Superstitions are beliefs about supernatural beings. They’re based on cultural habits and are not meant to be true. These superstitions come from many cultures from all over the world. They predict one’s fate with positive and negative consequences. We like to believe in superstitions because we’re curious to know what our fortune holds.

March treasures the tokens of luck! They come from most of Irish mythology. Here are lucky superstitions of March:

🍀 On March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated by wearing green for luck. If you are not wearing green on that day, you’ll get pinched by a leprechaun. Leprechauns LOVE to pinch people. The only way to avoid getting pinched is by wearing the color green.

🍀 Beware the Ides of March. March 15th marks the day of bad luck because historical tragedies had happened such as, Roman Emperor Julius Caesar getting assassinated by his “allies” in 44 BC. Try to avoid getting bad luck on that day!

🍀 If you find a four-leafed clover, you will receive good luck! Its four leaves represent faith, love, hope, and luck. It’s rare to spot a lucky clover, but when you do find one, make sure to take care of it.

🍀 If you succeed in capturing a Leprechaun, you will collect its golden coins and be granted three wishes. They are tiny, invisible creatures who appear on the day before St. Patrick. Catching one of these little fellows will be extra challenging because they are known to be mischievous.

These superstitions are quite popular in March, but if you would like to know more about other superstitions, continue reading! Have a lucky day and watch out for any signs of bad luck.

Are you curious to know more about superstitions? Here are a few items that will give you luck: catching sight of white butterflies, carrying rabbit’s foot, $2 bills, crystals, and having a dreamcatcher somewhere in your room.

If you don’t want bad luck, don’t do the following things: walk under a ladder, break a mirror (if you break a mirror, you get 7 years of bad luck), open an umbrella indoors, and take away the life of a ladybug.

Writing a Kindhearted Valentine’s Letter 𓏲 ࣪₊♡𓂃

By Kelly Catap

A Valentine’s letter is a special gift that can make someone feel happy. Writing a letter takes time and dedication. You can express your emotions and let the person know how you feel about them. Here are some tips for writing a love letter:

1. Say how much a person means to you

There are many ways to tell someone how much they mean to you.

You can describe the feeling as someone who’s special, someone you look forward to spending time with, makes your heart skip a beat, or makes you smile.

2. How they made an impression on you

What kind of influence did they have on you?

Was it love at first sight?

How has your life been after meeting them?

3. Compliment their features

It genuinely means a lot to a person when you tell them how lovely they look or how their personality is sweet and caring.

4. A favorite memory that you can recall together

You can mention a joyful, funny, or life-changing moment.

If you have known each other for a small amount of time, admit that you want to make more memories with them.

5. Confess your desires

Let the person know what kinds of things you want to do together, what you’ve been thinking about lately, and the dreams you wish to accomplish together.

Could you imagine a future with them?

6. Leaving a message at the end of the note

Your message could be about how much you love them.

Lastly, you’ll end your letter (if you don’t have any final words) with an affectionate closing such as, “Love,” “Yours Truly,” along with “Always and forever.”

Once your love note is complete, don’t forget to send it!! ˶‘ ᵕ ‘˶

Favorite Christmas Traditions at JGHS

By Kelly Catap

Christmas Traditions are a way for people to celebrate Christmas and spend time with their family and friends! This upcoming holiday, people around school were asked what their favorite Christmas traditions are.

Decorating the Christmas tree, listening to Christmas songs, watching Christmas movies, giving gifts, and putting the Elf on the Shelf are traditionally appreciated by others. It brings the holiday spirit and makes everyone feel content.

Students mentioned cutting the Rosca de Reyes bread. It is a fun traditional Christmas activity. Every member is given a sweet bread, but only one contains a baby inside it. Whoever finds the baby in their bread has to be the one to cook tamales for everyone next time!

A special Christmas tradition is celebrating birthdays. Christmas birthdays are considered to be rare and lucky.

A favorite Christmas tradition that everyone can agree is most important is spending time with family and friends. Christmas wouldn’t be fulfilled without them. It’s good to cherish your loved ones and express your gratitude for them. You can spend time with family by praying together, cooking dinner, eating tamales, and visiting each other for the holidays!

Have a Merry Christmas!
