Write your partner a love letter. Who doesn’t like heart warming love letters of how much you love and adore them.

3. Does your partner love stuffed animals, but you don’t know which one to get them?

4. Does your partner love art or love to draw?

Who Is Saint Valentine?

Saint Valentine, the original Cupid, originated in Rome during the third century. There are two popular legends that surfaced from this time. As one of the famous legends goes, he was originally a priest and physician until he got put behind bars. He not only healed his jailer’s daughter from blindness, he also befriended her. As he wrote letters to her from jail, he always signed, “From your Valentine”.

The second legend states that Saint Valentine secretly married couples so that the husbands were not forced to go into war, this defined the Emperor’s orders. Emperor Claudius ll executed Saint Valentine and another man who shared the same last name. Their execution was on February 14, therefore people worldwide celebrate Valentine’s Day on that day.

Eats & Treats: Homemade Cookies for the Holidays

With the holiday season approaching, the mouthwatering desserts catch my attention! Brownies, cookies, pies… the more the merrier! Here’s a delicious Christmas cookie recipe you can make at home.

CHRISTMAS M&M COOKIES

For this recipe you will need…

  • 1 and ½ cups of flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cornstarch 
  • 1 cup red and green M&Ms
  • ½ cup room temperature butter
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg

Follow these quick and easy directions for the tasty cookies!

Step 1) In a bowl, cream together the sugars and room temperature butter until fluffy and light. 

Step 2) Next, mix in the vanilla extract and the egg. 

Step 3) Once everything is mixed, pour in the dry ingredients and the M&Ms, and mix until everything is combined. 

Step 4) When finished mixing, put portions of tablespoon sized cookie dough balls onto a baking pan and put them in the freezer for 10 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees while you are waiting.

Step 5) After 10 minutes, put the pan of cookie dough balls in the oven and bake at 350F for approximately 11 minutes.

Step 6) Eat the cookies and enjoy!

The Importance of Sleep

Who doesn’t love a thorough sleep, we need it and we crave it!

In order to achieve this, first make sure that you set yourself a consistent sleeping schedule. Your sleeping schedule needs to correspond with your school activities.

Useful activities to do before bed include the following:

Reading poetry

Listening to relaxing music

Stretching

Doing skincare

All of these activities will help you get into a calming and relaxing mindset. Focusing on bettering your sleep will result in a positive jump in your attitude and how you act. This will make you energetic and motivated for school. You wouldn’t be dozing off during class, but rather paying better attention and being alert.

Although it is important to have multiple interests, your sleep should be one of your top priorities. Fantastic sleep will lead to a thoroughly terrific day.

Protect our Bewitching Black Cats

The superstitions of black cats have led to the cruelty, abuse, and non-tolerable acts on Halloween day. Usually cats are adorable furry animals that people adopt to love for a lifetime, but on Halloween, black cats do not get the same treatment.

For centuries, black cats have been viewed as cursed and causing you to have misfortune, this has led to the despicable injuries that go as far as death to black cats.

European folklore tells how if a black cat crosses your path then they will give you a future worth of bad luck. The reason this myth is valued is because black cats are viewed as witches’ companions. The injuries that they endure are getting their fur cut off, being held against their will, and even being beaten.

These harmful acts only get more extreme during Halloween, and some people go to the extent of adopting black cats the day before Halloween. The reason why they adopt them is not your typical “love at first sight adoption,” it is to hold the black cat captive until the 31st so that they can take advantage of them.

Black cats do not deserve this treatment, there needs to be protection to make the abuse stop. One thing you can do to help is when you see a stray black cat you can take care of it or let someone trustworthy give it a home. Protecting our loving black cats must start now!

Her favorite time of the day is the evening, so she can watch the sunset as the colors beautifully light up the sky. Destiny is fond of baking, and her favorite dessert to bake is fudge brownies topped with pink heart sprinkles. Out of all the news sources, her favorite happens to be the Los Angeles Times.
