Farewell John Madden

On December 28, 2021 John Madden, famous NFL coach for the then Oakland Raiders, passed away. As a coach, Madden is famous for his Super Bowl XI win with the Raiders against the Minnesota Vikings (32-14) on January 9, 1977. Madden coached for the Raiders for 10 seasons, finishing with 103 wins, 32 losses and 7 ties.
He is also famous for his yearly NFL video games which bear his name. The first entry was John Madden Football (1988), and now with its latest release with a shorter name Madden 22 (2021).
Madden was also a great broadcaster, providing commentary for NFL games from 1979 to 2009, earning 16 Sports Emmy Awards along the way.
On January 9, 2022 before the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders game Virginia Madden honored her late husband by lighting the Allegiant torch.
John Madden’s legacy will continue to live on through his wife, Virginia, 2 kids and 5 grandchildren.
