Week eight of the 2021-2022 NFL season has started and the season is shaping up to be a surprising start for the 32 teams and their 18-week schedule. The most interesting teams in the Los Angeles area are the Los Angeles Chargers (4-2), Los Angeles Rams (6-1), and Las Vegas Raiders (5-2). Let’s round up our favorite local teams.

Firstly, the Los Angeles Chargers are competing with the Las Vegas Raiders for the number one spot in the AFC West. After a disappointing loss in Baltimore in week 6, the Chargers are still a very talented team with a good chance to make it to the playoffs. Some of their biggest victories were defeating the Cleveland Browns, their AFC West rival Raiders, and 2020 Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chargers are coming off a bye week, hopefully recuperated. Quarterback Justin Herbert has been exceeding expectations in his second year, throwing for 14 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions.

Next up are the Los Angeles Rams who are in the #2 spot in the NFC West standings with a record of 6-1, with #1 currently being occupied by the undefeated Arizona Cardinals (7-0). The Rams took a 38-11 victory over the NY Giants despite losing second-string tight end Johnny Mundt and running back Jake Funk. New star quarterback Matthew Stafford has led the team taking over for Jared Goff. They have the #11 offense in the league. The Rams moved to 6-1 after their 28-19 victory over the Detroit Lions. Former Rams’ QB Jared Goff and the Lions remain winless as LA’s Matthew Stafford threw for 334 yards and 3 touchdowns against his old team. The Rams take on the last place Houston Texans (1-6) this Sunday, 10/31.

Lastly, we will profile the Las Vegas Raiders who had a strong week 6 victory over the Denver Broncos, which officially broke their two game losing streak at the hands of the Chargers and the Chicago Bears. In Week 7, the Las Vegas Raiders continued their winning ways, beating the Philadelphia Eagles 33-22 to move to 5-2 and in sole possession of first place in the AFC West. In his second game under interim coach Rich Bisaccia, Derek Carr was an efficient 31-for-34 on 323 yards and 2 touchdowns to go along with one interception. The Raiders will now have a bye week, but will return next Sunday, November 7 in New York to face the Giants (2-5). The Raiders have had to overcome the sudden resignation of head coach Jon Gruden, who came under scrutiny for malicious emails.

Predictions:

I am predicting that the AFC Champion will most likely be the Los Angeles Chargers. And the NFC Champion will be the Arizona Cardinals. And in the Super Bowl, I predict that the Chargers will finally earn their first Super Bowl win in a 47-42 victory.
