Eagles Softball a Sensation

By D.Higgins
The JGHS softball team is off to a sensational start, earning coverage around the city and a reputation as a new force in the 605 League.
Backed by a group of nearly all freshman girls, the Eagles currently sit at 7-1 overall, and 3-1 in the 605 League, in 2nd place behind undefeated Cerritos.
The impressive victories include a 27-1 trouncing of Whitney, and a crazy two-game sweep of Western High, by scores of 11-0 and 19-9.
In their most recent home game against Oxford Academy (gallery below), the Eagles cruised to an easy 10-1 win behind strong pitching from starter Diana Bravo, and junior Gabby Ortega.
Left-fielder/Catcher Sienna Contreras highlighted a 4-run first inning, hitting an RBI double that nearly went over the fence.

You can catch the Eagles at home for 3 games this week, facing off against Artesia on Tuesday, 5/11, and then in back-to-back games vs. Whitney this Thursday and Friday.
